I believe you are sometimes working in Excel tables had the need to quickly numbered rows or a specific cell range. In Excel, there are several ways numbering and I will in this tutorial show you some of them.

Numbering rows or cells in Excel

The first and basic option numbering rows or cells using the left mouse button as you copy a cell or formula. In Excel, you have the possibility of quick creating a series of sequential numbers using the copy option using Fill Handle (Fill Handle - a cross that appears when you place the mouse pointer to the lower right corner of the selected cell or range of cells). Take the example shown below, in which we make certain numbering regardless of the number of rows (this quick numbering can do in the columns by dragging the selection to the right or left).

Another way to quickly numbering rows in Excel using the dialog 'Series' which returns the result of positive numbers. Right-click mouse button on the Fill Handle grip and drag up the order to which you want to number the rows or create a sequence of numbers. You notice as you drag the mouse pointer to the shape of his hair to the left of the arrow. When you drag the cursor, expansion of selected cells with the mouse pointer appears on a small box with a number.

When you release the right mouse button shortcut menu appears where you notice two important options for this event. Options on the shortcut menu, the 'Fill Series' and 'Series'. If you choose 'Fill Series' Excel will automatically create a series of sequential numbers with a step of a number starting with the number you entered in the first cell.

If you choose 'Series' from the shortcut menu, Excel will open a new dialog window (Figure below) where you need to select the step and the maximum number of sequence numbers. In the dialog box 'Series' choose one of the options that you have a choice for "Step value' enter the number of steps that will be between a series of numbers. In the 'Stop value' type in the maximum number of sequence numbers. Here, I would note that this number does not affect a range of selected cells. For example, if you drag 'Fill Handle' for 10 cells will then an Excel fill only these ten cells regardless of the number 100, which I am enrolled.

Quickly create a series of numbers for hundreds or thousands of cells or rows in Excel

In this example, I will show you how you can quickly create a series of sequential numbers for hundreds or thousands filled rows or cells. As we have seen in the examples above, it is not a problem to pull the selection and create a series of numbers by several rows, but what if you have several thousand rows and want to quickly create sequential numbers for all rows. In the previous examples it is necessary to withdraw the selection of the particular order to which we want to create a series of numbers. If this option applied to this example, then had to wait for the selection of the withdrawal of the Fill Handle drag to the last row (which may be 10,000 or more).

So, as not to waste any time, simply enter the first two numbers (with a certain step) and click with the mouse by double-clicking on the 'Fill Handle' (small cross). Excel will automatically create a series of numbers to the last row, which is filled with some text or value. This quickly create sequential numbers can only do this in the adjacent column (to the right or left column to do a series of sequential numbers) data which numbered rows.
